A post on Truth Social by the president has drawn heavy criticism, being called \u201cvile\u201d for depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as monkeys.<\/p>\n

\nDonald Trump has sparked outrage online after posting a video on Truth Social that ended with a shocking image of Barack and Michelle Obama superimposed as monkeys. The clip, part of a 1-minute conspiracy video claiming the 2020 election was \u201cstolen\u201d by Dominion Voting Systems, has been widely condemned as racist.<\/p>\n
For two seconds, the video shows the Obamas\u2019 faces on monkeys bobbing to The Lion Sleeps Tonight. As of Friday morning, the post had been liked more than 2,500 times and shared over 1,100 times.<\/p>\n
\u201cDisgusting behavior by the President. Every single Republican must denounce this. Now,\u201d said the press office of California Governor Gavin Newsom.<\/p>\n
Political strategist Adam Parkhomenko added: \u201cThis is overt racism. Full stop. There\u2019s no \u2018misinterpretation\u2019 and no excuse. This is who he is, who he\u2019s always been, and why he should never be anywhere near power again.\u201d<\/p>\n
Social media users were also quick to react. One wrote: \u201cBeing a racist, and posting racist memes, places you on the ladder rung two steps below contempt. I\u2019d call you a pig, but that would be doing a grave disservice to pigs around the world. The world awaits your political demise with great anticipation.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Unilad, another commented: \u201cCan\u2019t believe I voted for you, Mr. President. It\u2019s a new low every day.\u201d<\/p>\n
Others defended Trump, with one person writing, \u201cGod bless you, Sir!\u201d and another adding, \u201cStop the voter fraud. Republicans need to grow a spine and pass legislation to end the cheating.\u201d<\/p>\n
The video was just one of over 60 posts Trump made on Truth Social in a three-hour spree, which also included repeating false claims about the 2020 election, promoting a Super Bowl ad, and calls to put his face on Mount Rushmore.<\/p>\n
After the strong reactions, the White House weighed in as well. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the image was from a social media meme.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from The Lion King. Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Obamas have not yet responded to the video.<\/p>\n
