In the arms of Santa Claus, a cancer-stricken child passes away.

A 60-year-old man named Eric Schmitt-Matzen, who is famous for playing Santa Claus on hospital visits, revealed a tragic story. A 5-year-old kid with terminal cancer desperately wanted to see Santa Claus, so a nurse summoned him to visit the boy.

“Did I hear you’re going to miss Christmas?” Eric asked the youngster with a smile as he hurried to the hospital. The frail but joyful youngster finally spoke up, saying, “You’re my favorite elf.” A PAW Patrol toy was given to him by Eric, and they hugged each other warmly.

By assuring the youngster, “When you get there, you tell them you’re Santa’s number one elf,” Eric calmly answered the child’s questions regarding existence beyond death. Tragically, the infant died while being held by Eric, which devastated his parents.

Eric returned her son to the mother with care, despite her cries for help. He wondered if he could ever be Santa Claus again after the emotional toll of this encounter. This tragic experience shows how even little gestures of compassion can make a huge difference to people who are struggling.
