This Girl Dreamt to Gain a Star on the Walk of Fame – At 52, She Gets Standing Ovation at the Emmys While Battling MS

The girl in the cover picture had big dreams before becoming a star. Now, as a famous actress, she was immensely celebrated at an Awards show amid her battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

This Hollywood star dreamed of one day being honored with a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. As a child, she began embarking on a career in acting and became a SAG member in 1976 (only five years after she was born).

In an interview she did two years ago, the acting icon previously spoke about how her childhood was embedded in show business, as her mom was also an actress. As a result, the then-little girl would accompany her mother to her auditions and acting classes.

During the discussion, the “Bad Moms” star divulged the following about the career she and her mom followed: “It was always just a part of my life. It’s not anything that she even had me do, or wanted me to do. But then we got to a point where we didn’t have money either. So, like, I brought in income.”

Christina Applegate, who has been battling MS, is now 52 years old and has built an incredibly illustrious career in Hollywood. She is so well revered as an incomparable talent in the industry that at this year’s Emmy Awards, she received a standing ovation from the audience.

Applegate, who was presenting the award for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, got emotional as the crowd welcomed her to the stage with loud cheers. Far from allowing her MS to hinder her and bring her down, Applegate was not afraid to poke fun at her health ailment: “Thank you so much…You’re totally shaming me with disability by standing up…”

The doting mom was diagnosed with MS in 2021, in the midst of filming the popular show “Dead to Me.” Though continuing with the series proved to be a significant challenge for Applegate, given her MS, she was determined to push through and persevere for the final season, which she did.

Last year, the “Married…with Children” actress opened up about her health condition in an interview. When asked how she felt on the day, Applegate disclosed: “With the disease of MS, it’s never a good day…There are just certain things that people take for granted in their lives that I took for granted. Going down the stairs, carrying things—you can’t do that anymore…”

Christina Applegate also spoke about how the disease has affected her balance and said that while she doesn’t have a big friend group that comes by to help her, she has one friend who lives with her during the week to help take care of her daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble.

She also said she has a caretaker who assists her on weekends and explained that the lack of groups of visitors is because she wants to keep her environment calm and mellow.
