He was also “Chubbs” in the cult classic Adam Sandler film Happy Gilmore. He was 76 years old at the time of his passing.

Weather’s family shared new of his passed on February 2. In a statement shared with Deadline, Weather passed away on February 1.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Carl Weathers,” his family said in the statement. “He died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, February 1st, 2024.”

Adam Sandler immediately took to Instagram to share a statement offering his condolences and sharing memories of his time working with Weather.

“A true great man. Great dad. Great actor. Great athlete. So much fun to be around always. Smart as hell. Loyal as hell. Funny as hell. Loved his sons more than anything. What a guy!! Everyone loved him,” Sandler wrote. “My wife and I had the best times with him every time we saw him. Love to his entire family and Carl will always be known as a true legend.”

Just two weeks ago, Sylvester Stallone shared a video of himself and Weather practicing the final fight scene between Rocky and Apollo.

“Practicing for the final fight in Rocky2. Rare footage. Thought it be fun to share. Keep punching,” Sly wrote.

Stallone then went on to share a second video after learning about Carl’s passing.

“We lost a legend yesterday. My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keeping punching.”
