Famous Actor Passed Away ‘Suddenly’ At Home Leaving Family In ‘Shock’

Gene Allen, a rapper and Hollywood movie star, passed away at age 63.

‘Groove,’ the star’s middle name, reportedly died unexpectedly at home, shocking his family.

Additionally, the family informed TMZ that Gene passed away on Wednesday.

Gene made several film appearances, including the 1990 comedy House Party and its follow-up, the Tina Turner picture What’s Love Got to Do With It? (1993), which starred Angelina Bassett.

Additionally, he costarred with Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens, and Halle Berry as a “street photographer” in the 1992 film Boomerang.

After his film career, Allen also performed a lot of voiceover work and radio assignments.

He last posted on Instagram four days ago, stating, “I ain’ playin’,” while he was singing into a microphone at a party.

Along with Darryl “Chill” Mitchell, Allen, also known as Eugene Allen, was a member of the 1980s hip-hop ensemble Groove B. Chill.

He began his career in the Bronx and has been referred to as a ‘hip hop pioneer’.

The final touches were being added on an EP called Bring Back The Party by Allen.

Additionally, on February 15, Gene advertised a performance on Instagram using the hashtag, “2025 coming in hot.”

He started by saying, “Get Ready to Party Like Never Before.”

“We’re excited to bring you the House Party Immersive Tour – a unique experience that combines music, fun, and community spirit! Ever wanted to enjoy authentic house party vibes while giving back to the community?”

“Here’s your chance! Whether you’re a military family, an RnB lover, or just someone who loves to live it up, this tour has something for everyone. Craig Memorial Hall on January 15th is our first stop in the New Year, so mark your calendars!”

In December, the Long Island native participated in an event in Baltimore.

Additionally, he demonstrated his busyness by visiting Delaware in November: “Delaware!!!!” With the DWELLING OF GODS, we are bringing you a preview of the House Party Immersion tour.

The 26th of February was just a few days away from his birthday.

On Instagram, Eric B. honored Gene.

“Got a call from my brother Chill that his brother Groove passed away.”

“Dam rest in peace brother Groove we will continue to celebrate your life let the house party continue on thanks for the great music and movie moments,” Eric B said.

DJ Premier also shared a note: “My condolences. Loved their music on Uptown and his character in House Party as the drunk.”

“Very few people till this day knows that we were the stars of House Party. We had those roles. The first video that the Hudlins ever directed was ‘Mr. Big Stuff’ with Heavy D and the Boyz. At the time, the whole Uptown Crew went to meet the Hudlin brothers in Queens. When we got there, they loved our character and energy.”

“They asked us what we did before we started doing music. Well, we were doing house parties.” They said, “Tell us about it. They said they were working on some ideas, and after they shot the video for Mr. Big Stuff, they took us to lunch and we all hung out. We told them story after story about what we did in terms of how we made money, how we went to parks, how we played at house parties, etc.”

“So, maybe a year or two after that, they gave us a call. We had dropped our music with Uptown Music and it wasn’t really moving. We were frustrated, and I remember us standing in front one of my guy’s house, and the question arose, Whatever happened to those Hudlin brothers, they said they were gonna help us out and put us in a movie or something. Low and behold when we went inside that evening, there was message on the answering machine from the Hudlin brothers telling us, ‘Hey, give me a call. We got some new things developing.”
