Mariah Carey recently donned a Schiaparelli Couture dress as she achieved a milestone in her career. While she looked stunning for the event, some social media users did not like her ensemble.
Mariah Carey recently attended the Recording Academy Honors presented by The Black Music Collective, looking breathtaking. The renowned singer wore a bronze Schiaparelli Couture ensemble featuring a tulle skirt that exposed her legs.
Some outlets shared photos of the artist’s looks during the event. However, many social media users did not like her choice of clothing and took their thoughts to the comments section. “It looks horrible on her,” one comment read. “It is kind of embarrassing. Not classy.”
Others didn’t think her outfit was appropriate for her age. “It’s not dignified.. She s lady over 50 [sic],” an Instagram user claimed. “Mariah looks amazing for her age but this didn’t suit her at all,” another agreed. “No, big no!” a third echoed.
Meanwhile, many Twitter users found Carey “stunning” during the evening. “She looks like a Goddess!” one person wrote.”OMG MARIAH CAREY LOOKS BEAUTIFUL,” another tweeted.

The Schiaparelli dress was part of the fashion house’s Fall/Winter 2023-2024 collection created by fashion designer Daniel Roseberry. The looks for the collection were modeled on the runway, with Adut Akech wearing the outfit Carey chose.
While some may not have agreed with Carey’s outfit, there is still much reason to celebrate her as one of this year’s Recording Academy Global Impact Award Honorees.
She received her Recording Academy Global Impact Award, a special accolade recognizing Black music geniuses whose work in the industry influenced many. Upon receiving her award, Carey gave a humorous speech, joking, “Is this a real Grammy?”
Undoubtedly, Mariah Carey has accomplished much in her career. Still, beyond her professional life, she is also celebrated as a mother to twins Monroe and Moroccan, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon.
Carey is a dedicated mother, raising her kids away from the limelight. She tries to keep them grounded, teaching them the value of money and hard work at a young age. Monroe and Moroccan have since become her top priority in life.
