In a playful exchange between the co-hosts on Today with Hoda and Jenna, Hoda Kotb shared with a live audience, and with millions of fans on TV, a previously unknown detail about Jenna Bush Hager.

“You promised me you wouldn’t do this!” the former first daughter tells Kotb, begging her to change the direction of their conversation. “There’s a lot of people here.”

Finally surrendering to her co-host, the mom of three gives her approval and says, “go ahead…”

Taking the cue, Kotb, 60, wastes no time in continuing her line of thought: “I was a little surprised because Jenna and I know a lot about each other…”

The two women then start chatting about how they are expected to quickly change before the show and the daughter of George W. Bush explains that earlier in the dressing room, she had a wardrobe malfunction when her dress popped open.

“But then I noticed,” Kotb starts before asking, “Are you sure it’s okay?”

“You’ve already done it!” Bush Hager, 42, responds.

Commando
“Jenna never wears underwear,” Kotb says, gasping and giggling as she buries her face in her palms.

As the audience erupts into laughter, Kotb takes the hand and of her co-host and tells fans that Bush Hager says that “it makes life easier.”

Explaining her decision to go commando, the woman, whose grandparents are the late George H. W. Bush and Barbara Bush, says, “I think it makes a more pretty silhouette. I also think you don’t have to pack as much. There’s a lot of pros to it.”

While Bush Hager graciously accepted the broadcast of her choice to be knickerless, she was also visibly embarrassed.

“I’m sure my mom has never been more proud,” she jokingly adds, referring to her mother, the former First Lady Laura Bush.

Kotb went on to note some of the benefits of going bare, calling attention to the show’s wardrobe supervisor who said, “it actually does make life a lot easier.”

The drawback, Kotb notes, is that “It’s a lot of washing of clothes, over and over.”

But Bush Hager isn’t bothered by the laundry.

“[Kotb] said, ‘Do you wash your clothes’ and I said ‘Yes, I do.’ But it’s also not like I’m sharing your jeans with you. Though I do steal Savannah [Guthrie]’s pants on occasion,” Bush Hager says of the co-anchor of Today. Then she asks Kotb, “And I do want to borrow that red suit of yours. Can I?”

“Yes, you can, anytime,” Kotb said.

“I’ll wear underwear,” joked Bush Hager.
