Popular Game Show Host Chuck Woolery Dies at 83

Chuck Woolery, the original host of “Wheel of Fortune,” passed away at 83. His friend and podcast co-host, Mark Young, reported that Woolery felt unwell at his Texas home and, after struggling to breathe, died before emergency services arrived.

Born on March 16, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky, Woolery began his career in music with the pop trio The Avant-Garde and later as a solo country artist. Transitioning to television, he became a beloved game show host, most notably on “Wheel of Fortune” from 1975 to 1981. Woolery also hosted “Love Connection,” “Scrabble,” “Lingo,” and “The Dating Game,” making him a familiar figure in American households.

Woolery is survived by his wife Kim and four children.
