There’s always undeniable beauty to be found in the world around us. An unquestionable part of the allure is the sheer variety of plants and flowers to be found, the rock formations, the vibrant colors, the rich smells and unusual sights.
If you like to travel, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. One of the most enthralling things about visiting a foreign country is the opportunity to experience nature in a way you never have before.
Now, I’ve never been to Brazil, but when I came across a picture of the jabuticabeira plant, I’ll admit to being lost for words of a moment. Want to know more? Then read on below…
If, like me, you’re unfamiliar with the jabuticabeira tree, which is native to Brazil, there’s every chance you’ll be equally taken back by its appearance.
If you ask me, there’s something very odd about the way the tree – also called the Brazilian Grape Tree – bears its fruit. The jabuticaba fruit, a purplish-black in color, grows directly on the trunk, and so it almost makes it look like the tree is being swarmed by some sort of alien insect
But no, the fruit from the jabuticaba is not only edible, but also believed to carry a number of incredible health benefits.
Reportedly, the fruit has a positive impact on respiratory functions, and can remedy ailments such as diarrhea. It’s also said to open up bronchial airways, meaning it can help with conditions such as asthma.
Not only that, but the jabuticaba fruit is a rich source of antioxidants that can help the reduce the risk of chronic disease such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes.
As stated, the jabuticaba tree is native to Brazil, and can be eaten raw or used to make jellies, jams, juice or wine.
