After the confrontation, Alaric joined us. He pointed to a framed photograph showing his younger self in a cramped kitchen beside a smiling young Molly. Beneath it, a brass plaque thanked Molly for telling him he belonged in a kitchen before he could believe it himself.

Molly was stunned that he had kept the photograph. Alaric said she had disappeared from his life, while she quietly replied that life had happened. Despite the lost years, their gratitude and affection remained.

Alaric returned to the kitchen and personally brought Molly fresh pasta, vegetables, bread and another piece of tiramisu.
